Mayor Brown has proclaimed the week of May 20 to 26, 2024 as Alberta Disability Services Professional Appreciation Week in Airdrie to recognize the positive impact disability service professionals have on the lives of people with disabilities, their families and the overall community.

Deputy Mayor Jones has proclaimed May 2024 as Guillain-Barré Syndrome/Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy Awareness month in Airdrie to educate the public and focus attention on these rare neurological conditions.

Deputy Mayor Jones has proclaimed the week of May 6 to 10, 2024 as Economic Development Week in Airdrie to recognize the important role economic development and economic developers have in fostering sustainable economies and improving quality of life through supporting local businesses, attracting new investment, creating jobs, and improving quality of place.

Deputy Mayor Jones has proclaimed the week of May 19 to 25, 2024 as National Public Works Week in Airdrie to recognize and celebrate public works employees that focus on infrastructure, facilities and services vital to the quality of life and well-being of the residents of Airdrie.

Council is being provided with information on the Acts and Regulations that govern supportive living and residential facilities. Administration is also providing a brief overview on the municipality’s role and responsibility in these matters.

Council is being asked to provide a letter of support for the Airdrie Public Library's application to the Community Initiatives Program for $75,000 in funding to help build the Library's diverse collection of resources to support the community’s information and entertainment needs.

Council is being asked to ratify a letter of support for the Circle Connections for Reconciliation Society’s application to the Calgary Foundation Neighbour grant for $10,000 in funding for their planned National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration taking place June 21, 2024, at Nose Creek Park in Airdrie.

Council is being provided with information regarding traffic volume changes and redistribution due to the completion of the 40th Avenue Interchange and 40th Avenue widening projects, and how these impacts have affected traffic signalization projects for 2024 and is being asked to endorse a scope change to re-allocate funds from the 2024 Capital Budget towards alternate traffic signal locations.

Councillor Spearman gave notice that a motion will be made to direct Administration to use an external consultant to determine implementation options and costing to conduct an analysis of Council members' time, duties, compensation and roles as elected officials for official municipal matters as outlined in the attached Notice of Motion.
